Buderim Falls |
Situated between Coolum and Peregian Beach, Mount Emu gets its name from the local Aboriginal word Peregian which means Emu. This is an easy walk up a fairly rutted path and a leisurely pace will see you at the top in about 20 minutes. During the best whale watching month, October, Mount Emu is an excellent spot to see pods of whales breaching just a few hundred metres from the shoreline.
Access to the mountain is from Havana Road (the High School turning) and if you look left as you drive down you will see a Queensland Parks and Wildlife information board which is where to park the car and start the walk. The mountain is the exclusive home to a small red flowering bush, Allocasuarina Emuina. Wallum wildflowers, Tumble Down and Scribbly Gum are also found there in abundance. |

Kondalilla National Park is named after the spectacular Kondalilla Falls, where Skene Creek drops 90m into a rainforest valley. Kondalilla, an Aboriginal word meaning 'rushing waters', describes this park's waterfall during the summer wet season.

Did you know the Sunshine Coast is home to over 700 different native animals? Urban development has created a new type of ‘wild’ habitat for many of our native animals. Creating a wildlife friendly garden in your backyard is an easy and rewarding way to attract fauna to a place of safety and plentiful food sources.
You can design your garden to specifically attract butterflies, birds, insects, amphibians, reptiles, possums and other larger Australian native animals. Establishing a wildlife garden is even good for your health as research has shown that living close to nature improves overall wellbeing. |

Nature Prescriptions There are many benefits of spending time in nature and some medical professionals are actually "prescribing" this. The benefits apply to physiological and psychological health and there have been many studies around the world demonstrating this. Other terms used are "Green Prescriptions" or "Forest Bathing". But do we really need a doctor to prescribe this? Perhaps we are already aware of the many benefits of getting out and into nature whether it's bush or beach. Perhaps we just need a little reminder and encouragement. We are so fortunate on the Sunshine Coast, Qld that we have many choices of both bush and beach. You will find many listed on this page. |

The Queensland Air Museum is run entirely by volunteers for the preservation of Australia’s Aviation Heritage.
It houses over 80 historic military and civilian aircraft set in 2 Hectares in beautiful Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast. Many of the military aircraft have played important roles in defending our great nation and supporting our allies from World War II through to the Cold war and beyond. The restoration work is challenging and ongoing; since 1974 they have sourced, restored and rebuilt over 100 aircraft. In addition, there is the task of maintaining the collection in good condition. They are a non-profit organisation that receives income from visitors and private donations. Your visit will contribute greatly to the ongoing work and enable development of the museum further to attract more visitors. |
